Inspired by the dazzling, prismatic designs of a kaleidoscope, the new Taccia Pearl Kaleidoscope™ paints a vivid picture in lively, sparkling patterns of great beauty. The rare and extremely limited Pearl Kaleidoscope is built on the same svelte ebonite body as Taccia's first two limited editions, the amazing Hidden Treasures and Snowy Dreams. Combining revolutionary new techniques with old-world style, Taccia utilizes lacquer carving, abalone inlay, natural black urushi lacquer and delicate polishing to achieve the high-gloss shine and three-dimensional depth that brings life to the detailed barrel. Each Pearl Kaleidoscope holds 366 pieces of hand-cut, hand-carved and hand-inlaid mother-of-pearl shell on the barrel - only the highest-quality premium abalone is selected. To create the maki-e relief, the master artist polishes away layers of natural black urushi lacquer, revealing the fascinating texture of the inlaid designs. A final layer of urushi polish is mixed with deer antler powder and applied with special mink brushes to create the highly-reflective sheen. A gorgeous, blue abalone medallion is hand-inlaid on the crown. The ebonite cap and barrel are enhanced with precious rhodium on the patterned bands and the large, curved clip. The fountain pen offers a beautiful 18K gold nib; a capped rollerball completes the collection.
